Margaritaville Is Adding a Second Caribbean Cruise Ship

By: Caribbean Journal Staff - December 4, 2023

Margaritaville at Sea, Margaritaville’s new cruise brand, is adding a second ship to its portfolio. The new Margaritaville at Sea Islander will join the existing Margaritaville at Sea Paradise, which sails to Grand Bahama.

Margaritaville at Sea Islander will set sail on June 14, 2024, with itineraries in Key West and the Western Caribbean, including a stop on the island of Cozumel and the port of Progreso on Mexico’s Yucatan peninsula.

While the company’s Paradise ship sails out of Fort Lauderdale, the new Islander will be sailing out of Port Tampa Bay. Sailings are already on sale.

“Since we launched our first ship, Margaritaville at Sea Paradise, last year, we’ve been working to expand what our guests have been asking for: more amazing views, longer itineraries, and new ports of call,” said Christopher Ivy, CEO of Margaritaville at Sea. “The addition of the Islander is an exciting moment for Margaritaville at Sea and marks the next chapter of growth for our business.”

Islander will have 12 decks, with a capacity for 2,650 passengers across 1,100 staterooms.

The ship is currently undergoing what Margaritaville called an “extensive transformation.” When it’s finished, it will have everything from a 14-story atrium to a mini-golf course nd a “splash and slide” for families.

The ship will also have a JWB Prime Steakhouse and a Mexican eatery called Rita Taco House, along with Frank and Lola’s Pizzeria, Margaritavile Coffee Shop and Cheeseburger in Paradise, among others.

“We are excited to expand our cruise line with the launch of Margaritaville at Sea Islander as our flagship vessel,” said John Cohlan, CEO of Margaritaville Holdings. “The addition of this ship will allow our guests to visit more island destinations and, while at sea, enjoy a broader and more elevated range of fun and signature Margaritaville onboard experiences.”

Sailings will typically be four-day itineraries.
