This Caribbean Cruise Port Is Becoming a New Homeporting Destination

By: Caribbean Journal Staff - November 22, 2023

One Eastern Caribbean cruise port is quickly becoming a new destination for home-porting.

The fast-growing Antigua Cruise Port continues its push to become a home-porting destination, successfully conducting two home-porting operations on a single day this week.

P&O Cruises’ Arvia docked at the port’s fifth berth, bringing 5,200 passengers and unloading 700 passengers to the destination, while another 700 passengers boarded the ship.

Another ship, the subperyacht Emerald Sakara did a full turnaround with more than 80 passengers doing a full turnaround. It was the first time the 100-passenger-capacity subperyacht visited Antigua.

This “indicates our capacity to manage homeporting,” said Cynthia Jacobs-Browne, Antigua Cruise Port Officer-in-Charge. “We had four vessels in port, and operations were smooth, so guests had a pleasant experience at our port.”

Arvia began home-porting in Antigua in January, with plans to make a total of nine turnaround calls this season.

Emerald Sakara will be making 13 turnaround calls this season.

Star Clippers’ Clipper and SeaDream II will also be home-porting this year at Antigua Cruise Port.
