American Airlines Adding More Daily Nonstop Flights to Antigua and Barbuda

By: Alexander Britell - November 13, 2023

The twin-island destination of Antigua and Barbuda has 365 beaches — or, as locals like to say, a beach for every day of the week.

Now, the country is getting more major nonstop flights for every day of the week, too.

American Airlines is expanding its service to Antigua out of Miami, with plans for a second daily nonstop flight between Miami and Antigua beginning June 5.

“We are thrilled with this announcement of additional service by American Airlines”, said Antigua and Barbuda Minister of Tourism, Charles Fernandez.

Antigua has seen growing demand by consumers, Fernandez said, particularly during the summer months — when the country has been one of the Caribbean’s best-performing vacation spots.

“The launch of the second flight comes at the most opportune time, as we work towards boosting airlift into the destination in order to sustain business during the traditional shoulder season,” Fernandez said.

The announcement comes after the Antigua and Barbuda Tourism Authority just completed a 38-city roadshow across the Inited States, geared towards marketing the islands and promoting an increase in airlift.

“Our US travel trade roadshows and consumer shows this year have been quite successful in generating a desire for travel to our twin-island paradise. We are optimistic that the additional airlift we are set to receive over the summer 2024 will be vital to meeting that demand and ensuring next year’s 2024 arrivals surpass those of bench-mark year 2019,” said Colin C. James, CEO of the Antigua and Barbuda Tourism Authority. “The extra service with American Airlines will provide us with that added boost, as our consumers will benefit from greater travel options allowing them to connect easily to the destination.”

American Airlines is also operating daily service to Antigua out of New York’s John F. Kennedy International Airport into Spring 2024.
