The Dutch Caribbean island of Aruba is set for another boost this summer with a planned expansion by Southwest Airlines, Caribbean Journal has learned. 

The carrier is increasing its summer 2024 flight frequency on the Baltimore-Aruba route, Aruba Airport officials confirmed. 

Southwest is ramping up its service from two weekly flights to five weekly flights between Baltimore-Washington and Aruba. The airline will be operating the route on Boeing 737 and 738 aircraft with around 143 seats for each flight. 

That will mean an additional 429 weekly seats from Baltimore, officials estimated. 

It’s of a broader expansion for Southwest to Aruba, including increasing flights between Orlando and Aruba to daily nonstop service earlier this year.
