Cancun International Airport is the busiest airport in the wider Caribbean region, according to data from analytics firm ForwardKeys.

While it may not be a surprise to those who have been following the Mexican Caribbean’s sizzling growth since the onset of the pandemic, Cancun continues to see passenger traffic levels ahead of pre-pandemic totals.

Indeed, Cancun’s traffic in 2023 is 32 percent higher than at the same time in 2019, according to the latest report from ForwardKeys, which surveyed the 50 busiest airports in the world.

So where does Cancun stand?

CIA is at 39th in the world, just after of Milan Malpensa and just ahead of Palma de Mallorca Airport in Spain.

Only one other airport in the wider region, Panama’s Tocumen International, made the list.
