Aruba’s Tourism Renaissance Is in Full Bloom

By: Caribbean Journal Staff - July 4, 2023

Aruba’s tourism renaissance is in full bloom, with passenger traffic at the island’s Queen Beatrix International Airport surging compared to the same period in 2019.

Traffic for the first five months of the year was 4 percent higher than in 2019, before the pandemic.

In the first five months of 2023, Aruba Airport served over 20 airlines operating nearly 10,000 flights from 30 different destinations.

Aruba is seeing strong growth from the US, which is up nearly 3.5 percent compared to last year, while Canada is up a whopping 57.3 percent compared to 2022.

“The estimated number of passengers and aircraft movements that will be handled for the year 2023 still looks very positive and promising and is set to as yet reach the estimated recovery of 108% for the year 2023 versus 2019,” Aruba Airport said in a statement. “This would signify an increase of 13% versus the traffic and passengers handled in 2022.”

“With these positive air service developments, Aruba Airport continues to see significant interest and opportunities to expand its current network, allowing for further development and diversification in its markets,” the airport said.
