The Best Value Resort in Turks and Caicos

Mornings on the beach, afternoon shopping strolls in the Village, rum punches by twilight, dinners under palm trees. Grace Bay in Providenciales, Turks and Caicos is one of the most vibrant, colorful destinations in the Caribbean; and while Turks and Caicos has seen some of the highest room rates in the Caribbean since the pandemic, one resort has the best of both worlds: a location in the heart of Grace Bay and the best value in Providenciales.

This is the Ports of Call Resort, a 100-room resort that feels like a boutique hotel, one that is right in the middle of all of the action in Grace Bay but still retains a enjoyable degree of serenity.

Even better? The resort just completed a $2 million renovation: 70 of the 100 rooms were redesigned with contemporary high-end furnishings; the pool is now heated; and the breakfast area has been completely refurbished.

That comes after an earlier project completed in late 2021 that included new tiling for the resort grounds, new mahogany doors and a resurfaced pool.

It’s another boost for a property that has always been one of the most popular places to stay in Turks and Caicos, with regular visitors praising its intimate feel, the “cleanliness and friendliness”, the in-house, personalized service and the designated section of Grace Bay Beach that is just for guests — including chairs, umbrellas, stand-up paddle boards and kayaks, all just four minutes; walk from the resort.

The new-look rooms have sleek bathrooms.

It’s also home to a remarkably broad culinary offering that includes terrific on-site restaurants: the Mexican eatery Skull Rock; the lunch and all-day breakfast spot Tribe; the dessert shop SweetFix; a poolside bar and even an ice-cream parlor called Giggles (make sure you try a Giggler)

But most notably, the rack rate is as low as $259 per night through Dec. 21.

“We provide all the amenities of other island resorts at substantially lower rates,” says Dale Papke, the resort’s owner. “We are constantly making improvements in order to better the guest experience. I make it a habit to chat with our in-house guests and find out what they like and what they feel could be improved. I feel my hands-on approach not only attributes to our large amount of returning guests but also, providing accommodations that exceed each guest’s expectations.”

There’s just something charming about the place, the quiet, the convenience. It’s the essence of what first drew everyone to Grace Bay decades ago: ultra-calm, friendly and laid back.

And you won’t find a better value anywhere on the island. For more, visit the Ports of Call Resort.
