Caribbean Hotel Occupancy Levels Are Surging

By: Caribbean Journal Staff - March 21, 2023

Hotel occupancy is surging in the Caribbean right now, according to a new report from hotel analytics firm STR.

The data show that the region’s tourism renaissance continues in earnest, with sizzling growth compared to the same period last year.

In February, hotel occupancy in the Caribbean was 73.6 percent, up a whopping 21 percent compared to February 2021.

Average daily rates were $370.57 in the Caribbean, up 16.4 percent from the same month last year, while revenue per available room was up 40.9 percent to $272.73.

Overall, hotel revenues were nearly $2.1 billion in the month, up 46.5 percent from last year.

STR’s data was the result of a survey of 2.049 hotel properties across the region totaling almost 271,000 rooms.

For the year, hotel occupancy in the Caribbean stands at just under 71 percent.
