In Guadeloupe, a New Kind of Caribbean Hostel

By: Caribbean Journal Staff - March 7, 2023

The newest hostel in the French Caribbean is, well, not quite like any other you’ll find in the Caribbean.

It’s called the GREEN Hostel, and it’s an exciting new boutique hostel concept in the heart of Pointe-a-Pitre, Guadeloupe.

GREEN calls itself the first “eco-responsible art hostel” in Guadeloupe, and, by extension the Caribbean.

It’s an exciting new option for travelers in search of a unique, budget-friendly hostel option in the region.

It’s a multi-level boutique hotel-hostel, with a first floor anchored by a concept store featuring on local products from Guadeloupe.

Th second floor has the majority of the rooms, with two large ocean-view rooms.

The hotel focuses on experience: that means temporary art installations, a garden, and regular evening entertainment: game nights, tattoo parties and art “creation sessions.”

It’s just 15 minutes fro the airport, set in the heart of the capital, with easy access to electric transport options, bus stations and local shops and markets.

Think of it as Guadeloupe’s answer to the new US trend toward flexible, millennial-focused accommodations.
