Small Caribbean Hotel of the Week: Rabot Hotel, Saint Lucia

By: SC HW - December 26, 2022

Our new regular feature, the Small Caribbean Hotel of the Week, takes you on a journey across some of the most delightful, memorable “small: properties in the Caribbean.

The Caribbean hotels we’ll be featuring will typically be those with fewer than 50 rooms, and often far fewer than that. Think of it as a new guide that highlights the sorts of properties that often fly a bit under the radar.

The first Small Caribbean Hotel is the Rabot Hotel in Saint Lucia, an eco-hotel in the lush rainforest town of Soufriere, Saint Lucia.

Rabot is the brainchild of London’s renowned Hotel Chocolate chocolate brand, which now spans 126 stores, along with restaurants and other shops.

the hotel is set on a working cacao farm.

Where is it? Rabot Hotel is set in the rainforest east of Soufriere, very close to the famous three-walled Ladera. It’s about a 45-minute drive from the island’s Hewanorra International Airport.

What to Know? There are 25 cottage-style rooms, along with a terrific spa, a wonderful, locally-sourced restaurant and a bar. Most notably, the hotel is set amid a working cacao farm, meaning you can immerse yourself in the culture of cacao and chocolate making. You can enjoy a chocolate and rum tasting, enjoy the “tree to bar” experience or simply enjoy the wonders of the hotel’s cacao-infused menus.

A “luxe” eco lodge.

Which room to choose? There are two room categories: Luxe Eco Lodges and Eco Lodges. We’d recommend the former, which are nearly twice as large, with spectacular views of the Pitons.

The pool alone is worth the trip.

What do we like best? The pool. Plainly, this is one of the most spectacular pools you’ll find in the Caribbean, thanks to its unrivaled, direct view of Gros Piton. Even with all of the fascinating experiences to enjoy here, you’ll find it hard to stay away from this pool.
