Thompson Playa del Carmen Has a New Chef

One of the premier hotels in Mexico’s Playa del Carmen has named a new top chef, Caribbean Journal has learned. 

The Thompson Playa del Carmen has appointed a new executive chef, Osamu Roman, a native of Japan who served most recently as corporate chef at Grupo Rosa Negra in Cancun. 

His previous culinary stops include serving as head chef of Soran Sushi in Bolivia, Restaurant EDO in Peru and Ecuador and Restaurante Isao in Ecuador. 

He will be overseeing the dual-resort property’s culinary concepts including Alessia Rooftop Restaurant, an Asian-influenced eatery; and Cinco, an adults-only rooftop eatery with breakfast and lunch. 

That’s along with the Beach House, the “coastal open-air experience” with authentic Mexican dishes.
