In Miami, a Celebration of the Rums of Martinique

The annual Sip of Martinique event came to Miami last night, with a celebration of rhum agricole to launch the 2022 edition of the Caribbean Rum Awards St Barth. 

The tasting party at Miami’s Empire Social Lounge (home to Miami’s top selection of Caribbean rum( featured a selection of rare rums from Martinique, including Rhum Clement 15; Rhum Depaz 2002; Rhum J. Bally 2002; Rhum HSE Kilchoman Whisky Finish, Rhum Neisson XO and Rhum Neisson 2004 15-Year. 

The evening kicked off with a Rhum Clement Planteur, and featured Davidoff’s Winston Churchill edition cigars, along with an authentic selection of Martinique’s signature accras de more.

The annual launch party is a pre-event for the Caribbean Rum Awards St Barth, which is holding the fifth edition fo the weeklong rum competition and festival from Nov. 1-6, 2002.

The high-level guest list was headlined by Vincent Florianni, the Consul General of France in Miami, and the Martinique Tourism Authority’s Monique Macaire, among others.

“This year’s Sip of Martinique was a tremendous success,” said Alexander Britell, editor and publisher of Caribbean Journal, which organizes the Caribbean Rum Awards St Barth. “Martinique’s rums are a major focus at our event in St Barth, including Rhum Neisson, which last year took home the crown as World Champion. We can’t wait for this year’s festival.”

The Caribbean Rum Awards St Barth is the Caribbean’s leading celebration of fine rum, with a weeklong schedule that includes a kick-off at Le Barthelemy Hotel, master classes, cigar and rum evenings, a two-day harborside festival right on the Marina in Gustavia and a headquarters at the Rhum Room, the world’s leading rum bar.
