Carnival Tops Two Million Cruise Passengers Since Restart

By: Caribbean Journal Staff - May 30, 2022

Carnival Cruise Line has now topped two million cruise passengers since restarting operations in July of last year.

The company reached the milestone this week with a sailing on Carnival Freedom out of Port Canaveral, Fla.

Carnival says its guests have taken more than 1.3 million shore excursions in the company’s destination ports, many of which are in the Caribbean.

The company, which kicked off its relaunch with Carnival Vista out of Galveston in July 2021, now has 23 ships in service out of 13 different homeports in the United States.

Carnival will restart its 14th homeport in New York in June with Carnival Magic.

Carnival’s newest cruise ship, the liquefied natural gas-powered Carnival Celebration, will debut in Miami in November.

“We are so pleased to have sailed two million guests since our restart, providing much-needed vacations,” said Christine Duffy, president of Carnival Cruise Line. “All the while, providing an economic boost to those destinations and providing our crew members with opportunities to support their families.”
