Antigua and Barbuda to Require Travelers to be Fully Vaccinated

By: Caribbean Journal Staff - December 7, 2021

Antigua and Barbuda has announced several new rules for incoming travelers, Caribbean Journal has learned.

Effective Dec. 8, fully vaccinated arriving passengers must present a negative PCR test within three days before arrival to Antigua and Barbuda — rapid antigen test results will not be accepted, nor will home PCR tests.

Effective Dec. 15, Antigua and Barbuda will require all travelers aged 18 and up to present proof of full vaccination — either two doses of a two-dose vaccine or one dose of a single-shot vaccine.

Unvaccinated minors between 5 and 18 must present a negative PCR test within four days or fewer before arrival to the country.

Children below the age of five do not require a PCR test.

The biggest change is that of vaccination; Antigua had until now been accepting travelers who had taken at least one shot of a vaccine — that has now changed to a requirement of full vaccination.

Fully vaccinated means at least two weeks have passed since the final shot of a WHO approved vaccine.

Antigua tourism officials said the move came amid “concerns over the potential spread of the new OVID-19 omicron variant.”
