Curaçao Hits Major Tourism Milestone

By: Caribbean Journal Staff - November 15, 2021

Curaçao has reached a major milestone, eclipsing its 2019 tourism totals in a month for the first time since the pandemic, according to data from the Curacao Hotel and Tourism Association.

In October, the Dutch Caribbean island reported 35,020 stay over visitor arrivals, which represented 101 percent of the same period in October 2019, before the pandemic.

It was the first time Curaçao had achieved that milestone since the onset of the pandemic.

Curaçao also saw a record-number of stay over arrivals from The Netherlands last month, with 22,713 Dutch visitors.

American visitors remain a small percentage of Curacao’s visitor traffic, however.

“The October performance showed the resilience of our tourism industry. With 35,000 stayover arrivals for October, we can proudly announce that our tourism industry is at the same level of October 2019,” the Curaçao Tourist Board said in a statement. “The

collective effort from our local stakeholders combined with our international partners in our main markets made the month of October a success.”
