Puerto Rico’s Wyndham Palmas Names New VP, Executive Chef

By: Caribbean Journal Staff - October 21, 2021

The newly-rebranded Wyndham Palms Beach and Golf Resort has named a pair of new hires, Caribbean Journal has learned.

That includes the addition of Ruben Rodriguez as Vice President of sales and marketing and Yia Medina as the property’s new executive chef.

Rodriguez most recently served as commercial director for sales and marketing at Melia Hotels for the US and the English-speaking Caribbean.

Medina, who will oversee development and menu planing at the resort’s restaurant, was most recently Chef de Cuisine at Eataly in Dallas.

Chef Yia Medina.

The appointments come after hospitality investment firm LionGrove recently acquired the property

“We are absolutely thrilled to welcome Ruben and Yia to the LionGrove team and specially at Wyndham Palmas executive team,” said Andro Nordase-Leon, CEO of LionGrove. ‘We look forward to their contributions and leadership as we continue to elevate the unforgettable experiences at Wyndham Palmas.”

The resort is set on the Palms Del Mar community in Puerto Rico, home to two of the island’s top golf courses.
