Frontier Airlines Just Launched a New Route to St Thomas, USVI
Fast-expanding low-cost carrier Frontier Airlines has added a new route to the US Virgin Islands, Caribbean Journal has learned.
The airline has officially kicked off a new route from Orlando to St Thomas in the US Virgin Islands.
The new flights will be operating twice each week, with service on Mondays and Fridays.
It’s the third new Caribbean route out of Orlando this year for Frontier, including new flights to Cancun, Mexico and Santo Domingo in the Dominican Republic.
“This new service from Orlando to St. Thomas marks yet another milestone in our growth at Orlando International Airport,” said Barry Biffle, president and CEO, Frontier Airlines. “We have become the number one airline at MCO based on total nonstop routes available and this spring will see the addition of even more great destinations for consumers to choose from. We are particularly excited to launch service to St. Thomas. It is an extraordinary destination on many travelers’ bucket list and our ‘Low Fares Done Right’ approach will enable consumers to fly to the island affordably and conveniently.”
It’s another sign of St Thomas’ growing tourism strength amid the pandemic, with more carriers continuing to add new airlift to the USVI hub.
That’s been buoyed by the USVI’s strong work in keeping the territory safely open, highlighted by the USVI’s class-leading USVI Travel Screening Portal.
St Thomas’ tourism sector has undertaken a broad reopening, with hotels and resorts back open and operating from the Ritz-Carlton, St Thomas to the Bolongo Bay Beach Resort.
“We welcome this new service from Orlando to St. Thomas and are grateful for Frontier’s partnership as we continue to prioritize airlift development,” said Joseph Boschulte, Commissioner of Tourism for the U.S. Virgin Islands. “These new flights offer an affordable and customized option for travel to the Territory during and beyond the peak winter season, and help to meet the strong demand from this important market.”
Next month, Frontier will continue its expansion to St Thomas, with a new route set to launch out of Miami International Airport.
