Sandals Resorts International is reopening another Caribbean resort next month, Caribbean Journal has learned.

The Sandals Grenada all-inclusive resort will officially relaunch on Oct. 1.

“This is exciting news for Grenada,” said Grenada Prime Minister Dr Keith Mitchell. “We look forward to the re-opening of the hotel and to resume welcoming visitors to our shores.”

The resort has been training employees for weeks in the company’s new Sandals Platinum Protocols of Cleanliness, which the company has implemented at already-open resorts in destinations like Antigua, Saint Lucia, Jamaica and, most recently, Barbados.

“This will largely signal the resumption of activity in the tourism sector, which has been particularly hard-hit by the COVID-19 pandemic,” Mitchell said. “What is even more heart-warming is that hundreds of our nationals are returning the work, after six months. This is good news on a personal level for these employees, and for the suppliers of goods and services, who benefit indirectly from the hotel’s operations.”
