Top Jamaica Hotels Are Making Upgrades

By: Caribbean Journal Staff - May 22, 2020

Many top Jamaica hotels are making upgrades to prepare for the eventual return of travelers to the island.

While Jamaica has not yet announced a reopening date for tourism, a number of properties are refurbishing, refreshing and reimagining themselves for future vacations.

“Jamaica’s most beloved opulent retreats are using this downtime to refresh and are coming up with perks and surprises to delight even their most loyal guests,” the Jamaica Tourist Board said in a statement.

That includes Jamaica’s Geejam Hotel, which recently expanded to add 12 new rooms called the “Marumba Studios.”

The 550-square-foot rooms have views of the mountains and the sea; as an added perk, guests in the units have access to the hotel’s on-site recording studio.

Jamaica’s iconic Round Hill Hotel and Villas has added a new eatery called “Wright Life,” focusing on raw foods and juices — and even plant-based pizza.

The Tryall Club villa resort has debuted a new beach club, with an expanded private beach, a new infinity pool and a new lounge area, bar and grill.

Of course, the biggest change to Jamaica’s hotel sector came just before the pandemic, when the spectacular new Eclipse at Half Moon resort debuted in Montego Bay

The 57-unit resort is a new, modern addition to what has long been one of the Caribbean’s most legendary places to stay.
