Caribbean Airlines Is Launching a Cargo Charter Service

By: Caribbean Journal Staff - April 27, 2020

Amid the ongoing coronavirus pandemic, regional Caribbean carrier Caribbean Airlines is launching a new kind of cargo operation: charter service.

The company has introduced its new cargo charter service program “to support supply chains within the Caribbean region.”

Caribbean Airlines said the launch of the new option was to “meet the growing demand for cargo uplift to a number of Caribbean islands, which are now experiencing significantly reduced cargo capacity with the closure of borders to passenger aircraft.”

Caribbean Airlines Cargo will be using the company’s fleet of Boeing 737-800 and ATR-72 aircraft, with a capacity of up to 18,000 pounds for the movement of essential goods.

The airline is already operating its regularly scheduled cargo flights on 767 freighters.

“In these unprecedented times, our cargo operations are crucial to securing the urgent supply of essential goods within the Caribbean. We will continue to adapt our business in order to meet the evolving needs of our valued customers,” said Marklan Moseley, general manager for cargo at Caribbean Airlines.
