American Airlines’ winter expansion has now reached Saint Lucia, with the launch of a new nonstop route from Chicago.

American’s newest Caribbean route will be operating weekly on Saturdays, with flights between Chicago O’Hare and Hewanorra International Airport.

“We are pleased to welcome residents of Midwestern states to Saint Lucia, where they can experience our renowned cultural experiences, bask in our perfect weather and enjoy a warm welcome from our local Saint Lucian residents,” said Saint Lucia Tourism Minister Dominic Fedee. “American Airlines passengers now can fly direct to Saint Lucia from Chicago, Charlotte, Miami and Philadelphia, and we look forward to continuing our strong partnership with the airline.”

The flights depart Chicago at 8:20 AM and arrive in Saint Lucia at 3:50 PM local time.

The return flights leave Hewanorra at 4:47 PM local time and arrive at Chicago O’Hare at 9:20 central time.

Through November, American provided more than 101,600 seats to Saint Lucia, accounting for 43 percent of the total seats to the island from the United States market.
