Caribbean hotel occupancy declined for the fourth straight month in July, according to new data from hotel analytics firm STR.

The region’s hotels reported 64.7 percent occupancy, a 6.5 percent decline compared to the same month in 2018.

Average daily rates rose by 4.8 percent in the period fo $205.45, while revenue per available room fell by 2.1 percent to $132.93.

For the year, Caribbean hotel occupancy has declined by 2.2 percent to 68.3 percent through the first seven months of 2019.

Average daily rates are up 8.6 percent to $235.20, while revenue per available room is up by 6.2 percent to $160.63 on the year.

STR’s data surveyed 1,957 hotels comprising 255,262 hotels in the wider Caribbean region.
