Mexico Is Getting a New Barcelo

Barcelo Hotels is planning to open a major new adults-only all-inclusive resort in Mexico.

The new Barcelo Maya Riviera adults-only is slated to join the company’s existing Riviera Maya portfolio when it opens this December.

The new Barcelo Maya Riviera will have a total of 850 guest rooms, all of which will have their own hot tubs on the balconies.

That number will also include 110 swim-up suites and junior suites, along with five restaurants, along with five bars and four pools.

It’s part of a wider $250 million expansion that will also include what will be the largest convention center in the area, set at the Barcelo Maya Grand Resort.

The 190,000-square-foot event complex will include “customizable multi-purpose space,” including a 3,400-square-foot terrace, with a projected opening date of May 2020.

“Barceló Maya Riviera is set to reshape the region’s hotel and convention offerings,” said Stefania Ballotta, Director of Sales & Marketing at Barceló Maya Grand Resort in a statement. “We can’t wait to share this new property with our valued guests and event planners.”

Barcelo already boasts five all-inclusive hotels on the Riviera Maya. including the Barceló Maya Palace, Barceló Maya Beach, BarcelóMaya Caribe, Barceló Maya Colonial and Barceló Maya Tropical.

That’s part of a broader Caribbean portfolio for Barcelo that includes resorts in Cuba, Aruba and the Dominican Republic.
