Traffic reports for Martinique Aimé Césaire Airport show increased traffic for the island, according to newly released data.

The airport saw a rise in traffic of 5.51 percent for November 2018 over November 2017, bringing the number of passengers transported since the beginning of the year to 1,783,431.

For the month of November, the France segment posted a growth of 6.89 percent.

The French Guiana segment saw its attendance increase by 27.74 percent with the arrival of a new operator for the destination, Norwegian, according to officials.

Norwegian is operating a broad array of flights to Martinique this winter season, out of cities including Montreal, New York and Fort Lauderdale.

Another carrier, Delta, has been operating flights out of Atlanta that include a stop in Martinique.

International traffic is up 21.72 percent with 18,332 passengers in November 2018 compared to 15,061 last year at the same time, officials said.

Indeed, the airport’s “Other Airports” segment, which mainly refers to destinations in North America, posted a growth of 46.6 percent, buoyed by Norwegian’s portfolio.
