The Dominican Republic has made no secret of its plans to push its capital, Santo Domingo, as an emerging tourism destination.
And the capital just got a big boost from Spirit Airlines, which has officially launched new nonstop flights from Orlando to Santo Domingo.

The Casas XVI boutique hotel in the heart of the Colonial Zone.
The new service, part of a wider expansion to the Caribbean out of Orlando, is operating four times each week through Nov. 7.
After that, the route will become a daily one, according to a statement from Spirit.
It’s the latest new route for Santo Domingo, which is increasingly on the radar of well-informed Caribbean travelers thanks to its marvelous colonial city and its growing portfolio of top boutique hotels.
