In a big boost for St Maarten, the island’s Oyster Bay Beach Resort is planning a grand reopening on June 1, a spokesperson for the resort confirmed to Caribbean Journal.

The first phase of the hotel’s post-Irma reconstruction will be ready that date, a phase that will include an infinity pool and hot tub; 40 restored units in the Mainsail building; 24 units in the marina front wing; nine units in the pool and oceanfront wing and 12 units in the lobby-reception building.

That will mean a total of 85 units ready for the reopening, which will also include the fitness room, shipwreck shop and Bodega by the Bay, along with Oyster Bay’s Indulgence by the Sea Spa.

The property has also named a new assistant general manager, Anju Snow-Baharani, along with a new operations director, Mientje Illis-Brown.
