New Nonstop Flights Between New York, St Vincent and the Grenadines
By Alexander Britell
For the first time ever, travelers will soon be able to fly nonstop between New York and St Vincent and the Grenadines.
In a significant boost for St Vincent and the Grenadines and its new airport, Caribbean Airlines has announced plans to launch weekly nonstop service between New York and St Vincent beginning March 14.
The weekly service will operate on Wednesdays.
The service will be the second major nonstop service connecting North America and St Vincent, following Air Canada’s December launch of weekly flights between Toronto and St Vincent. (Those flights operate on Thursdays)
“Caribbean Airlines is in the business of connecting people, and this nonstop service between St. Vincent and New York will provide closer links for travel and commerce between the eastern Caribbean and North America,” said Garvin Medera, Caribbean Airlines Chief Executive Officer. “Our mission is to connect the region more closely and as we realize this ambition, our valued customers can look forward to a schedule that allows for easy and convenient travel, to facilitate their needs.”
The new service will mean both nonstop flights to the “main” island of St Vincent and far simpler connections throughout the Grenadines chain of island, offering easier access to private island resorts like Palm Island and Petit St Vincent and the charming little islands like Bequia and Union Island.
Caribbean Airlines was the first international carrier to service the destination, with charter flights last year.
