Tiger Woods Makes Return to Golf in The Bahamas

Golf legend Tiger Woods makes his long-awaited return to professional golf on Thursday, choosing to do so at the annual event he hosts in The Bahamas.

Woods will play in the annual Hero World Challenge, which will include 18 of the world’s top-ranked golfers, including Dustin Johnson, Jordan Spieth, Henrik Stenson and Hideski Matsuyama, among others.

Albany.

It’s not the first time the 41-year-old Woods has used the Bahamas-based tournament as his return to golf; in 2016, after a nearly 16-month layoff from the sport, he returned at the tournament, finishing 15th in the 18-player field.

His last professional golf event was the Dubai Desert Classic in February, which he left early after experiencing spasms in his back.

The course at Albany.

Albany, a luxury real estate development in Nassau, is home to an 18-hole championship golf course designed by another top golfer, Ernie Els.

The course is a par-72, 7,400-yard track. This year’s purse is $3.5 million.

Woods was himself an early investor in Albany, which is set on 600 acres on the southwestern coast of New Providence.

And Woods is no stranger to the Bahamas, having most recently been tapped to design a golf resort project in Eleuthera.
