Sandals Launches South Coast Resort in Jamaica

By: Caribbean Journal Staff - December 13, 2016

Sandals has rebranded the former Sandals Whitehouse European Village and Spa as the new Sandals South Coast Resort, the company announced Tuesday.

The Jamaica property has undergone a series of renovations, and will soon be adding 12 new overwater bungalows, and the company’s first-ever overwater bar, “Latitudes,” which will include hammocks suspended over the sea.

“With this re-launch, we have brought our most innovative ideas and concepts to absolutely reimagine the guest experience,” says Gordon ‘Butch’ Stewart, Chairman and Founder of Sandals Resorts International.  “The results further embody the beauty of the region embracing the incredible beach and water this resort boasts nestled within 500 acres of nature preserve.”

The resort will also add an ocean-based swim-up bar called Bar-Tender and even an overwater wedding chapel.

The property has already completed renovations to its existing five restaurants, along with the addition of four new restaurants: Sushi on the Sand; Beach Picnic, an option for Butler guests to have a romantic picnic on the beach; Jerk Shack, a dining option with open-air seating and rustic vibe that serves authentic jerk dishes; and Schooner’s, which serves Caribbean fare.
