Caribbean Carrier Winair Is Adding Another Plane

By: Caribbean Journal Staff - June 24, 2016

St Maarten-based Caribbean air carrier is expanding its fleet for the summer season, the company announced.

Winair has announced the addition of an additional DHC-6 300 aircraft for the summer.

In a statement, the company said the aircraft would allow the company “to serve new markets and will also enhance our ability to provide additional charter services from our hub in St Maarten.”

Winair has historically operated three DHC-6 300 aircraft during the summer.

The addition of the fourth comes in response to what the company termed “a growing customer base and demand.”

“I would like to thank all employees in St. Maarten and the islands we serve for their hard work in providing excellent customer service and the supervisory board of directors for their continued confidence in future growth of Winair,” said Michael Cleaver, president and CEO of Winair.

Winair had been rapidly expanding its intra-Caribbean regional network in the last year, with expanded service and new daily flights to destinations like Antigua.
