One of the world’s leading hotel companies has just created a rare new position: Chief Disruption and Growth Officer.

AccorHotels has announced the appointment of Thibault Viort to the role, effective immediately.

In the C-level position, Viort’s primary responsibility will be to “keep up with the fast-moving consumer market, the new C-level position will complement AccorHotels’ agility in acquiring new business.”

That includes tracking down new growth opportunities to “foster the emergence of new entrepreneurs,” to emphasize interactions with startups that “reinvent the overall sector” and oversee investments or acquisitions in emerging activities.

“As part of our transformation journey, we are implementing new streams of activity to discover new business opportunities that create value and enhance creativity,” Sébastien Bazin, AccorHotels Chairman and Chief Executive Officer. “I am very proud that Thibault has agreed to join us. His enthusiasm and experience as a passionate entrepreneur, as much as his willingness to share and offer a fresh look, will help us generate new approaches to our businesses.”

AccorHotels has a number of hotels in the Caribbean, including in St Martin, Cuba and the Dominican Republic.
