After months of decline, American Airlines reported a slight increase in traffic to Latin America and the Caribbean last month.

The carrier reported 2.7 billion revenue passenger miles to Latin America and the Caribbean last month, a 1 percent increase over March 2015.

That came after a months of continued reduction in revenue passenger miles to the region.

For the first quarter, revenue passenger miles in Latin America and the Caribbean declined by 1.6 percent, the only region in which American Airlines reported a quarterly decline in traffic.

The Latin America and Caribbean numbers come in stark contrast to the rest of the company’s network, which saw an overall 3.2 percent increase in RPM in the first quarter.

Load factor in Latin America increased by 2 percent in March, although it was down 0.3 percent for the quarter.
