New Resort Project Launches in Antigua

By: Caribbean Journal Staff - March 30, 2016

Another new resort project is coming to Antigua.

The Labahia Hotel Resorts and Condominiums has officially launched in the Friars Hill area of Antigua.

The $52 million project is being developed by Adams Investment Management and the government of Antigua and Barbuda.

It is the brainchild of Trinidad and Tobago-based developers Imtiyaz Adam and Farman Ramjohn, and will include 120 one and two-bedroom, full-furnished luxury condominiums and several penthouse suites.

The resort project will include a 24,000-square-foot conference facility, restaurants, a gym, tennis courts, shops and an Olympic swimming pool.

“In light of the Government’s vision for our country’s development, the conference facility will be a welcome addition to our tourism product and will now allow us to actively promote the destination as one that can attract business from the lucrative “Meeting, Incentives and Conference Events” (MICE) market,” said Antigua and Barbuda’s Minister of Tourism, Asot Michael.

The property is being built on 10 acres of land that previously belonged to the West Indies Oil Company; it had been acquired by the government in November 2015.

“The general focus of this project, and beginning at this groundbreaking site, means that we are enhancing the prospects for success in our hotel, housing, and industrial amenities, which are all integral components in 21st century national development,” Michael said.
