The Caribbean’s Best New Cigar Lounge

By: Caribbean Journal Staff - October 22, 2015

By Alexander Britell

It’s been open for just about a month, but one Caribbean cigar lounge has vaulted right to the top.

It’s called Kandela, and it’s centrally located in the Renaissance Mall and Rif Fort area of Curaçao’s capital.

The well-designed lounge includes spacious, clubby seating, a large walk-in humidor and a long L-bar, along with frequent live music.

The humidor is rather well-stocked, with the usual suspects from Cohiba and Romeo y Julieta and some more unique smokes like the light-but-flavorful Hoyo de Monterrey Serie Le Hoyo.

It’s joined by a small but robust selection of rums, led by the hard-to-find Ron Caney 12 from Cuba.

The location makes it a must-stop for any visitor to Willemstad’s downtown Otrabanda area — and an important visit for any cruise passenger in town.

It all adds up to something special — the best cigar spot in all of Curaçao.
