JetBlue successfully completed its first test flight to Grenada this week, ahead of its official launch of service to the island.

JetBlue’s Airbus A320 touched down on Tuesday in its newest Caribbean destination.

The New York City-based carrier is slated to launch twice-weekly service between John F Kennedy Airport and Maurice Bishop International Airport on June 11.

The flights will operate on Thursdays and Saturdays.

The Airbus A320 planes have 150 seats.

“We are working assiduously to ensure that JetBlue’s inaugural flight is one of the best in the Caribbean region that they would have done so far,” said Wendy Williams, general manager of the Maurice Bishop International Airport.

Grenada is the carrier’s 32nd destination in the wider region.

“We’re very excited. The team has worked hard to open this station. So we are preparing a big inaugural flight and event here,” said Catalina Breton Ramirez, director of international planning and programmes for JetBlue. “We’re going to have people coming from New York and also having people from the island flying back in the inaugural flight back to New York. We’re very excited. We’re going to have a big party here.”
