The Bahamas’ newest boutique hotel has opened its doors just outside the Lyford Cay enclave of New Providence.

The Island House, a 30-room boutique property, is officially open.

The property is the product of a $40 million investment by the Holowesko family, according to the Bahamian government.

“I hope that in the not-too-distant future other Bahamians will take the plunge and discover how truly rewarding it is to own and operate properties that integrate Bahamian culture because we know it, live it and wish to share it with the world, and because it presents the winning formula for attracting repeat customers,” said Bahamas Prime Minister Perry Christie, who recently toured the hotel.

The 10-acre hotel also includes a Bamford spa, squash courts, a yoga movement studio, a coffee bar, a 48-seat movie theatre and two on-site restaurants.
