Finding Jamaica’s Blue Mountains at Miami’s Pasión del Cielo

At this time of year most coffee drinkers are excited about the return of Starbucks’ pumpkin spice latte and their iconic holiday-themed red cups. Not me.

Instead, I’m celebrating the six-day-old Midtown Miami location of coffee house Pasion Del Cielo, where Jamaica’s famous Blue Mountain coffee is the star of the menu.

Unlike Starbucks and Dunkin’ Donuts, Pasion Del Cielo allows customers to choose their brew from beans grown all over the world, including Cuba and Jamaica.

So when I saw Jamaica’s prized Blue Mountain beans on the menu, ordering up a steaming cup was a no-brainer. Sure, you’ll pay a $2 premium for what are arguably the world’s best beans, imported from the island’s Mavis Bank Coffee Factory.

But when coffee tastes this good, who cares?

Find Pasion del Cielo in Downtown Dadeland, Coral Gables, and Midtown Miami.
