The Florida-Caribbean Cruise Association has officially begun its annual conference and trade show.

This year’s conference, the 21st of its kind, is taking place in St Maarten, bringing together around 1000 tourism industry stakeholders and 100 executives and other officials from the 15 lines that are members of the organization.

It is being hosted in the conference structure at Port St Maarten.

St Maarten first hosted the conference in 2003.

In a statement, Mark Mingo, CEO of Port St Maarten, said the event was also a step in establishing the island as a market for conference and convention tourism, too.

“We have an opportunity in the FCCA post-conference period to work towards establishing St. Maarten as a dynamic business events destination,” he said.

The conference concludes Oct. 10.
