Trinidad and China are planning to partner on the development of an “Agricultural Innovation Park,” according to Trinidad’s government.

The University of the West Indies St Augustine campus recently hosted a five-member delegation from the China Agricultural University, aiming to produce a development plan for a proposed “Agricultural Innovation Park” at the Orange Grove Farm.

The project team, which included UWI Faculty of Food and Agriculture members Isaac Bekele, Wayne Ganpat, Gregory Gouveia, Antonio De Gannes, Wendy-Ann Isaac and Govind Seepersad, completed the first phase of planning on the project.

The China Agricultural University has campuses all across China, which has played a role in China’s recent growth in agricultural production.

The Chinese delegation included Du Jinkun, Han Yijun, Wang Jianhua, Zhang Tianzhu and Ren Huazhong and CAU President Ke Bingsheng.
