Jamaica may not have starred in the Bobsleigh at Sochi on Sunday, but the country seems to have won the gold on the Internet this weekend.

While the bobsledders finished 30th out of 30 teams following the first two heats at Sochi, they won the gold medal on the Internet.

Set to 1980s-style computer graphics, their catchy song “The Bobsled Song” seems to have been an instant hit with fans around the world.

The song, which was produced by Sidney Mills & Jon Notar and Groove Child, was timed to be played right after the team began their first downhill run at Sochi.

The song was a rather shrewd move from the Jamaica Tourist Board, underscoring that the Caribbean tourism sector can be marketed by using far more than simply beautiful beaches.

The song’s catchy chorus includes “Run the track. Run the track. Run the track. It’s Bobsled time!”

The song is a “hot track for a cold track,” as the JTB says.
