Caribbean Concierge: Anguilla’s CuisinArt Golf Resort & Spa

By: Caribbean Journal Staff - October 20, 2013

They’re the ones who make everything run smoothly. Need a last-minute reservation? Looking to find that out-of-the-way boutique you heard about from your friends? The Caribbean’s hotel concierges help make the region’s tourism industry go — by making guest experiences easier and more comfortable. Our new feature, Caribbean Concierge, helps you get to know them a little better, and helps them give you some expert advice on their home turf. Our inaugural Caribbean Concierge talks to Ena Boasman-Hodge, concierge at the CuisinArt Golf Resort & Spa in Anguilla.

Where are you from, and how long have you been working at the property?
I’m originally from St Maarten and have been with CuisinAart since June of 2001.

What do you like most about Anguilla?
The friendliness and helpfulness of the people here.

What’s your favorite part of working at CuisinArt?
The comeraderie of Management and staff, and the fact that we offer such a wonderful experience to our guests!

What’s the most interesting or difficult request you’ve received from a guest?
One of the most interesting requests I’ve received from a guest was to organize a surprise helicopter ride for a 20-year wedding anniversary. We live on an island where, to have a helicopter land, you have to obtain permission from the authorities in England. I succeeded with the request and the helicopter landed on our property here at Cuisinart Golf Resort & Spa. The couple was ecstatic with the service.

What’s something most people don’t know about visiting Anguilla that they should?
To pre-book their transfer from St Maarten to Anguilla, may it be a shuttle or private plane/boat, since most visitors fly in to St Maarten and transfer over.

What are some attractions in Anguilla you recommend to guests?
1.     Swim with the dolphins
2.     One of our resort cooking classes  – an amazing hands-on experience
3.     Wine tasting – our cellar holds 3,600 bottles

If you had to recommend one experience in Anguilla, what would it be?
The visit to one of our offshore cays, where you can have lunch, snorkel and hang out, sipping an Anguillan rum punch on the beach.
