The Cayman Islands is now offering online registrations for companies, the government announced.

Starting Tuesday, all transactions relating to the registrations of companies in Cayman can be completed online, though only by licensed service providers.

According to Registrar General Cindy Jefferson-Bulgin, the system allows for “paperless transactions,” as company registration certificates can be printed in a company’s registered office.

“While this upgrade streamlines the registration and maintenance processes for our clients in the area of companies, we will be working on getting partnerships online in a similar manner,” she said.

Donnell Dixon, Deputy Registrar at the Cayman Islands Government, said the upgrade would have “significant advantages,” namely “quicker processing and lower costs for company registrations.”

The Cayman Islands General Registry’s system, CORIS, was designed by a local firm, Brac Informatics, with help from the government’s Computer Services Department.
