Barbados is looking to increase the number of tourism arrivals it receives from Europe, according to Tourism Minister Richard Sealy.

The Minister, who met this week with Belgium’s Ambassador to Barbados, Godelieve Van den Bergh, said the government was ramping up its efforts to draw tourists from the continent.

“We are very strong in the United Kingdom, but we have to strengthen our brand in Europe because there is so much potential there,” he said. “We are doing our part to reach out to Europe and make it easier for your people to travel. We are talking to a number of key players in the market.”

Ambassador Van den Bergh said she was “hopeful” that both countries could increase their relations, and that tourist arrivals would improve.

Earlier this year, the Ministry of Tourism said more airlift could be on the way to Barbados, including from Germany’s Condor and another carrier, TUI, which could also soon launch service to the country.
