The Board of Directors of regional air carrier LIAT has accepted the resignation of Chief Executive Officer Ian Brunton and named an interim replacement, it announced Wednesday.

Brunton’s resignation will take effect starting Oct. 1, the company announced.

Julie Reifer-Jones has been appointed to act as CEO. She had previously been serving as the company’s Chief Financial Officer.

She has served as Acting CEO before, following the resignation of Brian Challenger last year.

“The Board of Directors thanks Mr Brunton for his service and wishes him every success in his future endeavours,” the Board said in a statement.

Brunton resigned last week in the midst of a period of serious struggles for the Caribbean airline.
