It wasn’t easy, but Usain Bolt continued his summer surge with a win at the 100M in Brussels on Friday night.
Bolt started out of the gate a bit slowly, but he picked up steam to beat American Michael Rodgers with a time of 9.80 seconds.
Rodgers actually posted a season-best time of 9.90 seconds, followed by Jamaican Nesta Carter, who posted a 9.94.
It was the third straight year Bolt won the 100M at the Brussels Diamond League meet.
Bolt’s victory was part of a Jamaican sprinting sweep, with Warren Weir taking the 200M in 19.87 and Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce racing to victory in 10.72 seconds, the third-fastest showing of her career.
That broke a meet record, and came despite a headwind of -0.3 metres per second.
