Grenada’s government is exploring the possibility of establishing an ICT partnership with Trinidad and Tobago.

Grenada Prime Minister Dr Keith Mitchell and Minister of State in the Ministry of Communications and works Alvin DaBreo held recent talks with iGovTT, a state-owned ICT agency in Trinidad.

The talks centered on the possibility of setting up a state ICT agency in Grenada modeled on the version in Trinidad, according to a government statement.

Mitchell said the Caribbean needs to find “practical, tangible ways within ICT to reach our people in the early stages of any initiative so as to get them on board, because if we do not move fast in enacting ICT to modernize our services, we will be marginalizing our children, based on where the world is right now.”

“Therefore, we need to use ICT to revolutionize the region,” Mitchell said.

DaBreo had already met with iGovTT in Trinidad; the recent talks were a follow-up on that visit.

Grenada’s government said it was interested in working together with Trinidad to share information, “enact initiatives and explores different avenues for growth in the ICT sector among the two countries.”
