Grenada Foreign Minister Nickolas Steele met Thursday with a delegation from Turkey.

The purpose of the visit was to discuss Turkey’s bid to host the Expo 2020 in the city of Izmir.

In a statement, Steele extended his “best wishes” to the delegation and expressed “hope for a deepening of relations with the two countries’ governments and private sectors.”

The delegation was in Grenada as the last stop on a 10-day tour of CARICOM member states.

Izmir is vying to host the expo against cities in Thailand, Russia, Brazil and the United Arab Emirates.
