Haiti’s Michel Martelly Heads to Guyana for CARICOM Visit

Haiti President Michel Martelly begins a three-day visit official visit to the CARICOM Secretariat in Guyana on Wednesday.
Martelly took over from St Lucia Prime Minister Dr Kenny Anthony as the rotating Chairman of CARICOM in January. He will hold that post through the end of June 2013.
He will be joined on the visit by Foreign Minister Pierre Richard Casimir and Trade and Industry Minister Wilson Laleau.
The group will hold talks CARICOM Secretary General Ambassador Irwin LaRocque on Thursday in Turkeyen, to be followed by discussions with Guyana President Donald Ramotar and his Cabinet.
Martelly’s visit comes a month after Haiti hosted the CARICOM Heads of Government meeting in Port-au-Prince last month.
