Karl Jean-Jeune, an aide to Haiti First Lady Sophia Martelly, has resigned from office, according to a press statement issued by the National Palace.
It said the government had officially accepted his resignation “as an employee of the institution.”
The resignation comes a few days after a report in the Palm Beach Post that Jean-Jeune was wanted for the theft of almost $30,000 from a bank in Florida.
On Friday, Jean-Jeune called the case a “misunderstanding.”
The Palace said Jean-Jeune officially resigned on Monday.
