Haiti has risen to 38th in the world, according to the latest FIFA/Coca-Cola world rankings, the country’s highest-ever ranking.

Haiti rose one spot from 39th in December. It is now just ahead of Zambia and just behind Serbia. Its December ranking represented an improvement of 18 slots.

Jamaica was the next-highest-ranked side, ranked 58th in the world, falling two spots from its number in December.

Trinidad and Tobago was third in the region, falling three slots to 71st in the world.

FIFA said the move came in part due to Haiti’s successful qualification for the CONCACAF Gold Cup due to its play in the Caribbean Cup, which was ultimately won by Cuba.

That tournament will take place in July, hosted by the United States.

Other teams that have qualified for the CONCACAF Gold Cup are the US, Mexico, Canada, Trinidad and Tobago and Martinique.
